From the beginning, Dari Nowkhah was a self-proclaimed sports enthusiast. Despite this, the Tulsa, Okla. native decided to play upon his strengths in math and science when he entered college at the University of Oklahoma as a pre-med major. After one round of Chemistry classes, Dari knew it wasn’t the right fit and switched to Broadcast Journalism.
Dari and his wife, Jenn, have three children Nick (12), Nahla (8), and Leighton (5). They currently live in Charlotte, N.C. where he is the Lead Anchor for The SEC Network.
Through the loss of their son, Hayden, in 2011 at just 39 days old, the Nowkhah family has learned what it means to live for more. Together, with the Children’s Organ Transplant Organization, they started a non-profit organization called “Hayden’s Hope” to financially assist children and families with transplant-related expenses, as well as raise awareness for organ donation.
Hayden's Hope has now raised nearly a quarter of a million dollars and continues to help families from coast to coast.
Dari continues to inspire others both by his impressive career path and strength in overcoming adversity. He enjoys sharing his story both to sports audiences and non-profit settings alike, sharing his character and values that permeate his life both on and off the set.
